Mammalogy

Over 40,000 specimens, including 2 holotypes, are housed in the Sternberg Mammalogy Collection. It is one of the most intensively used research collections in the U.S. The Sternberg Mammalogy tissue bank contains over 2,000 preserved tissue samples, primarily from Kansas. These tissues also are used extensively in molecular and DNA-based research, including systematics, phylogeography, and evolution.
