For artist Paulette Von Lintel-Karlin these beachcombed treasures are not just expressions to admire, but questions to answer. She engages each found shell in a creative conversation, with the shell serving as both collaborator and canvas. She layers rich pigments and intricate appliqués to bridge the gap between organic form and artistic vision. 

Interwoven with these reimagined shells are elegant art quilts that take the shape of the sea's most graceful inhabitants: stingrays and fish. By marrying the rigid, calcified shells with fluid flexability of fabric, Von Lintel-Karlin explores the dualities of the coast.
