Summer intern joins Sternberg staff
Atlanta native Claire Duerr has joined the Sternberg Museum staff as a summer intern.
Duerr, a biology and anthropology major at Furman University in Greenville, S.C., will be entering her senior year when she returns to school this fall. She began working at Sternberg on June 10 and will be primarily working with zoology collections manager Jackson Roberts, paleontology operations manager Ian Trevethan, and naturalist and education manager Alicia Gaede. She’s also helping in other areas of the museum as needed.
“I’ve been enjoying it so far,” Duerr said. “It’s allows me to get experience with things I’ve never done at Furman.”
Duerr said she learned about Sternberg through her biology professor who was familiar with the museum. He introduced Duerr to museum director Reese Barrick in February and the decision to bring her on board as an intern was finalized in March.
